  Innish Beg Cottages

Three stunning destinations, brought to you by Essex Angling Leisure. Innish Beg Cottages nestle amidst trees, commanding beautiful views of Lower Lough Erne and offer the ideal location for exploring the many historic houses and archaeological sites in the area.

You are welcome to walk on the farm to enjoy the flora and fauna or to take a walk to the waterside and enjoy the relaxing surroundings. Our farm is in an environmentally sensitive area, so we are especially aware of managing the land in an environmentally friendly way.

Innish Beg Cottages was established in 1984, when we renovated a gatelodge on our farm. A further small cottage was renovated in 1987 and in 1994 we built two more houses to cater for larger groups. Our aim is to provide a relaxing environment for our guests, but we ensure that there are also many opportunities to keep guests busy, should they wish.

After a hard days fishing, our newly established Spa and Yoga centre offers our guests massage treatments, Sauna and hot tub, relax with Yoga or enjoy a painting weekend . Enjoy the beautiful and calming surroundings at Innishbeg in our Cafe or on our veranda which offers an extensive vista of Blaney Bay at Lough Erne. For smaller children there are swings and climbing-bars on our playground overlooking the lake. So if you like outdoor activities, eg fishing, cycling, walking, swimming, boating, climbing, or bird-watching, then you have found the ideal base.

We can provide storage for fishing equipment, fridges are available for bait and we welcome pets under supervision.

Innish Beg Cottages make an ideal base for any fisherman - game or coarse.

Co Fermanagh is well known for the wide variety of fishing available on its many lakes or 'loughs' with several prestigious competitions being held here each year. Keen fishermen from mainland UK, the Republic of Ireland, France, Germany, Holland, USA and farther afield have already been 'hooked' by the beauty of the surroundings and the great sport to be had - just ask one of the many fishermen set-up along the lough shore .... but don't disturb the fish!!

Situated in the North Western region of Ireland, with its multitude of lakes and rivers, our cottages are all within easy reach of Donegal, Sligo, Leitrim, Tyrone and North Mayo - where some of Ireland's best fishing is to be found. Whether you're drifting wild loughs in spate, or winter piking, you will discover fishing throughout the year. Spring salmon, wild brown trout, grilse, sonaghan and dollaghan are the quarry of the game angler, while there are pike, bream, and perch for the coarse fisherman.

The year opens with the January spring salmon fishing on the river Drowse - cold work and often with little reward. Then into February to troll for springers on Lough Melvin, through to March when the trout season opens. And with the warmer weather, the fisherman's choices widen. The prolific Finn in Donegal begins its fishing, together with many other rivers where the salmon run. April, May and June bring, some say , the best of the wild brown trout when dapping the Mayfly could be a new experience. The grilse are now well into the rivers and should the weather allow, sport can be good. July and August are sometimes called the dog days - but they still provide good opportunities when fishing early and late. September and October, with all their autumnal colours, bring improved trout fishing, and the late salmon can be a bonus; or the sonaghan fishing on Melvin may be more fun. Finally, why not end your year with a dollaghan or two from one of Lough Neagh's feeders?

Costs will vary depending on venue, but range from free, to £80 per day per person for a day with a ghillie, or afloat with boat and engine). You will also have to hold the relevant licence wherever you fish. This may add up to ?30 per person for a week's fishing. We find that an average day on a salmon river will cost £30 and a day afloat - 2 rods - £80.

You may require transport depending on your choice of venue and you should be prepared to be flexible and be able to adapt to a variety of weather and water levels. With so many watersheds accessible, one might fish three different rivers or loughs in a week. Talk to us, and we will do our best to put together a suitable week's fishing for you..

Sea fishing can also be arranged (for 3 to 10 persons) on the beautiful Donegal coast. Catch mackerel, pollock, dogfish, ray, ling, conger, turbot, tope, blue shark and - should you get seriously lucky - one of the porbeagles!
